Pablo Ureta who continues to sit in great shape is very getting close to the actual leader Gilad Rotem. Pablo is now in 5th position. He is now trying to get close to Nielsen Ulrik from Great Britain that is now only seconds away.

Pablo averaged 36.46km/ hour for 185km of the ride today. The total time bike is 4 hours 56 minutes!

What’s going to happen on the run?

Things are looking good for Pablo Ureta at this point. He looks good but the race is not over. He has only 10 real training days before the race and anyone knowing what it’s an IRONMAN will say it’s crazy and not enough.

I still remember 16 years ago when he was only fifteen years old and he said to a local television that he will do an Ironman one day. They thought he was crazy at that time, but now, with 19 Ironman at his back he is ready for the number 20!

Pablo Ureta is well into the run course as the rest of the men start the run. The current leader is Gael Mainard from France. Behind him chasing the leader is Pablo and the rest group of men.

We’re seeing some of the images from out on the bike course, and looking at Pablo’s position on the bike. He looks very comfortable as he powers away in an aerodynamic tuck.

He’s now through 140 km of the ride.

This year the Frankfurter Ironman European Championship bike course is 185km, that is 5 km more than usual.

Pablo Ureta was 12th out of the water in his category. He’s racing as 30-34 category. Final swim time is 55 minutes 36 seconds!

Nine-time Ironman Hawaii qualifier Pablo Ureta is in 12th position, 8 minutes behind the leader.

20, si el ironman número 20 el próximo domingo.

Ya no queda nada y me muero de ganas de ir a competir a Frankfurt. Quizás no llego entrenado de la mejor manera pero pude hacer 10 días de entrenamiento a full que me hacen creer en la posibilidad de hacer una buena carrera. Hace una semana que estoy pedaleando con la nueva maquina, lleva un tiempo acostumbrarse a una nueva posición y hay que hacerle unos ajustes pero va muy bien.

El viernes después del mediodía saldré para Frankfurt con Cristy de Panamá y allá me encontrare con Martin Aragno, Fede, Antoine y otros amigos!

Todo listo para competir en mi ironman número 20, el tercero en Frankfurt y el octavo en Europa.

J’adore voyager, rencontrer des gens de cultures différentes et découvrir des nouveaux endroits. C’est pour cette raison que j’ai toute de suite étais attiré quand Christophe m’a parlé d’aller faire une course de vélo en Grèce.

C’était juste 4 jours avant de commencer les examens à l’université, donc c’était logique de ne pas y aller. Cependant je pense que les opportunités dans la vie il faut les prendre et c’est pour cette raison que je suis allé.

Quelle expérience !! C’était fantastique. Nous étions accueillis comme de roi. Super hôtel dans un endroit de rêve. C’est très difficile d’exprimer en quelques lignes ce que j’ai découvre dans chaque voyage…

La magnifique région du Péloponnèse en Grèce c’était l’endroit choisi pour organiser cette course de vélo. C’était une course particulière car nous avons fait 140 km dont 100 km sous conduite. Les derniers 40 km en montée pour arriver au temple d’Apollo !!

Que du plaisir (un peu moins dans la montée car j’avais très peu de km dans les jambes) pendant tout le parcours. Malheureusement, un cycliste de notre team est tombé et s’est cassé la clavicule…

Dès que nous avons commencé à monter le col, les attaques ont commencé. J’ai essayé de rester le plus longtemps avec le groupe de tête. J’ai fini 5^ème au classement général à 1’40’’ de Christophe, le vainqueur.

Prochaine destination : Francfort dans une semaine pour participer à l’ironman. Je me réjouis trop !

I’m so excited about riding a new bike. The first and the only time in my life I bought a new bike was 13 years ago. I remember as it was yesterday, it was in September 1997. It was my first road or triathlon bike I ever had: a white Cannondale. From 1994 to 1997 I participated in triathlon with a mountain bike. I remember seeing triathletes with the super light triathlon bikes and I was always riding my mountain bike. Even if it was harder and slower I was so happy to get the chance to do triathlons.

The first time I rode with my new white Cannondale I could not believe how fast it was compared with the road bike.

Anyway, 13 years after my first new bike, I get to ride again a new super machine: “Scott Plasma”

Thank you so much Rodolfo for giving me the chance to ride such a great bike. I met Rodolfo in Guatemala when I participated in the Tikal half-ironman race. I had a great time over there and my friends from Guatemala were amazing.

Only 3 weeks for the first ironman of the season. I just need to buy race wheels and I’m ready for it. If anybody has a good pair of racing wheels to sell, you can contact me!

Hasta la próxima

El sábado pasado participé en las 10 millas más duras de los últimos años, por lo menos para mí. La carrera fue excelente con muchisima gente mirando, alrededor de 20.000 participantes y sobre todo una temperatura muy agradable. Lamentablemente para mí no fue una buena carrera pero fue una oportunidad más para aprender, para crecer y para luchar con más fuerza para el próximo obejtivo.

Triathlon Fribourg: Pascal, Marc, Fabio, Zuzana y yo

Todo iba muy bien hasta el km 6. Pasé los 5 km en 16’50’’ y en el km 6 en una curva pise una barrera y me doble el tobillo muy feo. Pensé por un momento que no podría continuar pero estaba fuera de mi mente abandonar. Seguí como pude, sufriendo cada pisada pero contento de haber llegado aunque lejos de donde me hubiese gustado estar. El lunes iba a participar en una carrera de 10 km en el barrio de mi casa (Môtier) pero mi pie me lo impidió.

Mañana temprano viajo a Grecia para participar en una carrera de ciclismo de 140 km. No estaba en los planes sobre todo porque la semana que viene empiezo con los examenes pero no podía rechazar una invitación para conocer un nuevo país haciendo el deporte que tanto me apasiona!!
